Hello and welcome to Retro Love Affair!*

Summers as a teenager were spent at a double A-frame mid-century modern-furnished cabin–with lots of color–built in the early 60s, in northern Minnesota. I was more interested in water sports and suntanning then to fully appreciate how cool the cabin was, but the aesthetic stayed with me and my love for MCM through the mod ‘70s continues today.

I completed a B.S. in Applied Design/Visual Communication from the College of Design at the University of MN. From my time there, I developed a deep love and appreciation for architecture, graphic and surface design, film, textile arts and photography. I was also fortunate to meet and interview Ralph Rapson while doing research on the architecture of the Twin Cities. It was a very sad day when his stunning building, the original Guthrie Theater, was razed. Fortunately, his legacy endures in other buildings in the city.

I'm an archivist and preservationist of visual design. The past is always influencing the present and without a visual history, we won't know how we got here.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you'll bookmark this blog and visit often.
